Besides that: I had it one time that they changed the plane (from Avro RJ-85 to ERJ-145) and I got a very poor seat. I was silver at that time and had a reservation originally but several gold members in the same plane.
People of travel agencies or LX reservation offices do not have the necessary level to access all the seats on the flights.
They may be able to assign you the seat you want, provided this seat is not already assigned or out of their reach.
By out of their reach I mean that certain seats are only available LX employees having clearance for it, i.e. of Circle or Gold office.
Therefore, if you have a status you should always do you reservations through the dedicated line, rather than through the LX "normal" reservation offices or once you have reserved your flights through the "normal" reservation office get in touch with the Circle or Gold office through the dedicated line and you can get access to those seats, unless already assigned.
On the other end, once a seat is assigned to you, you should (in principle) not get bumped out of it. That may still happen because a Circle or Gold members does a lot of fuzz at reservation or check-in because he can't get "his" seat. Some airline employees get impressed by these customers. I know a several guys who are having a fit when they do not get the 2c seat on a A320.
