I concur with what Alaska14K said regarding weather in PVR over the summer, plus, you might check on that time share as many require weekend only arrival/departures.

If you could get your hands on a companion ticket this sounds like a great use.

I really hope you get to go to PVR, I love it there. The jungle comes right up to the bay, it is gorgeous.
