Anyway the reason for the post is when we do decide where, how do I go about booking this with FD and any advice anyone can give me.
Have booked rewards with EK before & it was a doddle but judging from past posts & my own KL experiences I fear that this one may not be the case.

Firstly should I call or book on-line ?

* Call....online booking primarily shows KL availability, with sporadic AF, NW and AZ. Calling gives you access to EVERY Skyteam partner routing.

Do I have to be armed with a multiple dates when I call ?

* Flexibility is key using mileage awards with any FFP!!
Do I have to suggest possible routings or will FD look at all options when I give them the destination ?

* It depends on the agent! But certainly don't be shy if you have a creative routing idea!

Can I now obtain awards on all Skyteam airlines for the amount of miles stated for a KL reward ? Obviously some Biz products are better than others.

* Yes

How long in advance is best to book ? ( I assume further in advance more chance of what you want )

* Usually, advance notice is better. But, ironically, many FFPs including FD will open up Business Class seats at the last minute (1-3 days before a flight leaves if not enough revenue seats were sold; a bit of a risky strategy, but works for me!!)

I understand WebAwards are good but only announced 2 months in advance
so probably not really an option if want to plan a trip.

* Probably not. Maybe you should be sponaneous and travel with only 2 months notice; WebAwards are amazing!
Would I be advised to do this prior to Flying Blue being launched ?

Can I hold reward tickets so I can check hotel availability etc. before having them issued like you can with EK ?

* No award courtesy holds...which is exceptionally customer unfriendly when you are trying to pull together a bunch of travel logistics. Supposedly, new FB program will have 3-4 day holds.

My apologies for the huge list of questions but any advice would be appreciated & any tips on good value for miles awards Ex-UK.

Cheers
