I would have to say that the best Sydney restaurant (definately the best views) is Cafe Sydney, which is a little known gem on top of customs house overlooking circular quay, the opera house, bridge and luna park. In Melbourne, well it is the cultural capital of Australia so you are spoilt with choice, Le Restaurant if your budget is unlimited, La Maison which is out in essendon but the best french/internation food, Fenix in Kew, Stokehouse upstairs in St Kilda...I could go on and on (some say I do already )
