I took some short hops within China recently in premium cabin on Air China (I think on one flight it was called 1st and the other biz, but it was the same). I would compare it favorably to US domestic first. Planes were either 737 or 320's -- 3x3 in coach, but up front it was 2x2 with extra leg room. Service was good (drinks, meals on 1 hour flights). FA's friendly. Much better than premium class within europe which is typically coach seats with middles blocked and no leg room.

One FA did ask me where I was from. I looked back and realized that I was the only caucasian on the plane. Of course my answer was "don't I look Chinese?".
