I am having the same problem with booking on AA.com. To go SGN-ORD via NRT AA.com will route me SGN-HKG-LAX-NRT-ORD. For some reason AA.com does not show codeshare flights with JL that much any more. Bottom line, I ended up booking what I want on Expedia. Orbitz is a joke with all of their non-existence flights and the "please select another flight" in red letters.
