IIRC, this was originally a number of hotels, incl methinks a Sheraton, before its conversion to a W. Wasn't this the third one ever?? In any case, you're right that it is different from most since it was in an established neighboorhood kind of area (IMO) and is far less sleek and edgy than the brand overall is reaching for. Compare this to, say, the new MEX W and you'll have very different experiences.
