When we were waiting to board our LAX/CDG flight a few months ago, an AF lady walked through the boarding area with baggage tags in hand giving the evil-eye to everybody's supposed carry-ons. She saw our rollaboard, whipped out a baggage tag and told us we would need to check it. I said, "Hey, wait, we're in FC". She said fine, we could carry it on and then went off to hassle other pax.
Don't know if they're as lenient on biz class carry-ons.
