Hunki and I intentionally missed our AS 11:46 a.m. flight SEA/LAS last Tuesday because we were too busy to leave the office, and knew that both the 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. flights had lots of open seats in first class.
We had no problem getting our favorite seats, 1-A and 1-C, flying standby on the outbound, but our failure to show for our originally booked flight, resulted in our losing our reserved 1-A and 1-C on the return, where first class was full.
At the gate, I asked the agent if there was a way for me to get seat 1-A. He said that the folks in 1-A, 1-D, and 1-F all had the same last name and were apparently family members, but that he would call up the passenger in 1-C and see if he was interested in changing seats. The passenger came forward and was happy to change 1-C for 3-C to get the extra leg room. The passenger in 1-A was also happy to change for 1-C so he too would have some extra leg room and be next to his brothers, so I ended up in my beloved 1-A and slept for the entire flight.
As it turned out, the guy who took 3-C, next to
Hunki, had a work mate who flew the same Concorde flight that we took last year. His flight was also courtesy of the SPG/Quantas point/mile trade that
Ozstamps taught us how to do.
