I think that this is a change, but I am not 100% positive.

According to the 2000 Elite information that was posted, Alaska/Horizon flights now earn your respective elite bonuses (125% Platinum, 100% Gold, and 50% Silver), plus the base miles counts towards elite status.

(p.s. - I also concur on the AmericaWest thing - the reduction in upgrade capabilities on AW is really bad.... I used to fly AW a lot, now, not so sure)
