Yes, NW is F for upgrade seat. NW doesn't hold any seats back for revenue as A seats, as does CO.

By the way, always a good idea to check the A seats even if there are not any F seats open. Gives a decent idea whether first is sold out or how many F seats might become available on the day of departure.
