My sample of flights would hardly qualify as a scientific study, however 2 recent flight seem to indicate that the "name game" is making inroads with CO employees.

I have a rather long and easily mispronouncable last name, on these 2 flights CO employees, one a gate agent another a FA took the time to ask how my name is pronounced. It's a very polite gesture and I certainly appreciated it.
