Fogo

Went to Fogo in DAL (Addison) last night. Have also eaten at the ones in Buckhead and Houston.

Meal is $44.00/person; we had 3 diners and paid $230 (not incl tip) for 3 buffets, 4 glasses of the house Chilean wine, 1 glass of the '97 Fonseca port, 1 double espresso, 1 cappucino, and 2 chocolate mousse cakes.

The salad bar is fantastic...probably about 80 linear feet; includes the standard salad items but also cheese, two different smoked fish, fresh buffalo mozzerella, hearts of plam, asperagus sprears, etc.

With dinner, they bring sides--mashed potatoes, roasted plantains, and fried polenta squares, and some kind of Brazilian Yorkshire Pudding.

Then there is the meat--sausage, lamb chops, chicken legs/breasts, pork loin, ribeye, beef tenderloin, beef filet mignon....wrapped/unwrapped in bacon; parmesan crusted, etc. Service is VERY attentive.

After dinner, two of us had the chocolate mousse cake...it was a dark chocolate sponge with almost-frozen vanilla and chocolate mousse, covered in chocolate ganache. Dessert was good but not orgasmic.

I didn't drink last night, but in the past, I've had their caipirinhas, which are like a mojito...muddled mint leaves, lime, and sugar, with a sugar cane liquor, topped with seltzer.

All in all, a great way to get in touch with your inner Viking, though I'm still feeling the effects today.
