Not same but sorta similar.

I had a cheapo non-refundable ticket from ORD-LAS (pre-TED, of course). I found out about a week before my trip that I need to go to LHR at the same time for business. Purchased a C ticket for over 6 large. So I thought, hey, I'll call UA and ask them to waive my $100 when I use the non-refundable one. Nope. No can do. UGS? Doesn't matter. International C purchase? Sorry Charlie.

They are strict.
