This isn't exactly on topic, but I seem to remember disembarking once or twice from the tail of a 727. The door was mounted on the centreline in the floor of the aircraft. I imagine that procedure ended with D.B. Cooper.

Also, boarding widebodies through fore and aft airstairs is nothing unusual outside of the US.
