Case in point, last week my colleague and I were on the same flight. Both platinum, both on "N" class fares. I checked in online 1st with sequence #1. He checked in a little later with sequence #4.
At airport, 1 seat was left and it was mine.
I guess having that confederate call on your colleague a minute before check-in time really paid off. I think a bunch of lightbulbs just turned on.
