First/Business Class Pre-Departure Beverages

bits and pieces for informational use.

F/C and B/C customers are to be offered pre-departure beverages on all flights unless circumstances or time constraints dictate otherwise

*Offer to hang coats as F/C and B/C customers are seated.
*Begin pre-departure beverage delivery as soon as possible during boarding.
*Offer pre-departure Orange Juice and Champagne on all Flagship Services.
*Offer coffee between 0500-1000.
*Ensure all galley components are closed and latched before the A/C door closes.
*End pre-departure beverage service once the A/C begins to move, and collect all pre-departure service items before takeoff.

NOTE: The FAA requires that no service items may be distributed once the A/C begins to move.
Ground Delay beverage or meal service
In the event of a delay, F/As in all cabins will remain visibly accessible to customers at all times. The F/A 1/Purser will consult with the Agent and the Captain regarding the length of the delay.
*If the ground delay is under 60 minutes, serve liquor in F/C and soft drinks in M/C, when customer load, the length of the delay, and local law permit.
*If the ground delay is over 60 minutes, the Agent or F/A 1/Purser may authorize complimentary liquor to be served in all cabins if time of day, type of delay, and local law permit.
- Delays due to such factors as local weather or conditions caused by AA may result in the service of one drink to each customer over the age of 21.
- When liquor is served on the ground, customers are not permitted to take alcoholic beverages off the A/C.
*The Captain may authorize a beverage or meal service on the ground, when the A/C is not moving, by delivering a P.A. advising customers of the service and estimated time of takeoff.
Liquor Restrictions
NOTE: In accordance with FAR121.575, AA will not board or serve alcohol to customers who appear to be intoxicated.

Do not serve alcohol to an intoxicated person as this may subject AA to liability for acts committed by the intoxicated person.

F/As may accept personal bottles of wine/liquor/champagne to serve the customer bringing it on board. This service is only offered in premium cabins, First and Business Class. Due to the size of the cabins, F/A will not offer this service to our Main Cabin customers.

State and Federal Restrictions
To-Go bags of miniatures, as well as bottled wines and champagnes, are not permitted to be distributed to any customer as AA's liquor license is for on board consumption only.

Connecticut, Kansas, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wyoming
Liquor may not be sold or served in the following stations while on the ground, though liquor may be served in flight to and from these locations:
*Cleveland, Jackson Hole, Columbus, Newark, Dayton, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Hartford, Wichita.

Texas
Liquor may not be sold or served prior to noon on Sundays on flights operating within the state of Texas.
Hawaii
On all flights to/from Hawaii, liquor carts may only be opened after takeoff and must be sealed prior to landing.
Federal Election Restrictions
State and county laws prohibit the serving of alcoholic beverages on the ground on the day of a presidential election.
Canada/Mexico
Liquor carts/kits must be sealed and all open containers must be emptied and disposed of prior to arrival and must remain sealed at all times while the A/C is on the ground until customer boarding begins. F/C liquor carts may be opened once customer boarding begins for the purpose of serving F/C pre-departure beverages
COMPLIMENTARY DRINK POLICY
The following guidelines determine when a complimentary drink may be authorized:
*Agent has authorized comps.
*Flight is delayed over one hour.
- Explain to customers that the first drink is complimentary due to the delay.
- On one-service flights 2:30hrs or less, comp one drink to each customer who requests one.
- On two-service flights 2:30hrs or more, one drink may be comped to each customer who requests one on the first beverage service. All further drinks must be purchased.
*When customers are severely inconvenienced.
*For customers who have assisted F/A by moving seats, translating for non-English speaking customer
*AAirpass members receive a total of two comp drinks, which may be served to AAirpass cardholder and/or their companion upon presentation of AAirpass card.
and there you have it
