In addition to the reasons WHBM noted, on modern airliners, the galleys are usually on the right side of the plane (especially on narrowbodies) so the catering truck loads from that side. Also, the cargo doors are on the right (some regional planes excepted), and a jetway or staircase would get in the way (especially on widebodies which use huge LD-XX container loaders).
