I've always tried to abide by the "no food" rule, as there are lots of places where it's just not a good idea to have food (back of an ambulance, clean room, etc.)

I will say that sometimes (especially extended IROPS layovers), a few minutes after I come in, I step back out to get something to eat. When I let the desk agent know (so they remember me and we don't have to do the papers-check again), they will *occasionally* tell me "just bring it back, we aren't crowded or anything."

It may have been that the PM (with family in tow) was likely turned away not only because of his attitude, but also because the door agent can do the math of food+kids usually = mess.

Now if we could just get rid of the loud football games ;-)
