I have, and I got the room. Since HRS usually allows you to cancel the room free of charge for some time, you can always book with HRS and then call the Hotel (the next day or so) to check whether the booking is there, possibly asking them to fax you a confirmation.
(HRS have never failed me. Ever. ^ )
