If you're planning to stay in Ao Nang (which I highly recommend - of all the beaches and islands we visited, we enjoyed the atmosphere in Ao Nang the best), you know you can fly into Krabi airport instead of Phuket. Transfers from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang are 500 baht for taxis, or 200baht/per person for shared-ride mini-buses. If you need to get back to Phuket though, I'm sure you could arrange a longtail boat ride seperately from your tour if needed - so long as they're going to Phi Phi. The longtail boats sort of run like taxis...just flag down a driver and tell them where you want to go. The prices are pretty standard as far as we saw, and inexpensive.
If I recall correctly, the longtail boat tour we took was 800baht for 2 of us. It was about a half-day trip, stopped at 2 islands, 2 beaches, and 2 snorkelling spots, and included lunch, fruit, and water. Those could be arranged through your hotel, at tour operator store-fronts, or with any longtail boat driver (you'll see plenty of them on the shore). The full day kayaking trips (lunch included) were, I think, 1200 baht/per person - or you could rent them for less and go out on your own.
I don't have any info on Phang Nga bay for you, unfortunately. We visited there, but only briefly.
Thanks for the great advise.
Well, the day that I was planning to do the Phi Phi Is. tour is the day that I have to fly out of the area. Now, with regards to my luggage, what could I do about it? I just can't leave it with the long boat tour.....What would you suggest, since i'm staying at Ao Nang, should I return back to Ao Nang for departure from Krabi at 6:10pm-TG or should I try to leave from Phuket at 8:30pm-TG?
Also in Krabi, after I finish exploring Phang Nga bay the day before on Kayak tour, if there is still sunlight left, should I try and find a driver to take me to a spot where I can see the bay from an elevated location? and to which place/places should I go for the best bay view?
