OK, please don't yell at me. I'm just thinking with my right (or is it left) brain (the logical one).

If the whole purpose of Q-points is to distinguish between those who "pay" versus those who "fly" (miles), then why not award Q-points based on what you actually paid? Gee, what a concept.

Let's say you award 2 Q-points for each US$, or converted equivalent, for each flight. For the sake of simplicity let's say its the full-in amount. Fly, LGA-MCO on a Q fare r/t and pay $135 = 270 QP's instead of 950. Fly JFK-NRT r/t in full F for $16,000 get 32,000 QP's instead of 20,234.

Some will win and some will lose. But it will for the first time be based on what you pay as it was originally intended.
