I see the ethics and I think the bigger ethical problem is the unconstitutional search for items not related to air security.

No, I don't assume that at all. What I do assume is that, based on way too many reports, law abiding citizens get caught in the "war on drugs" dragnet too often and many times aren't able to get their money back. If they do it's not without a huge (i.e. expensive) legal battle.

As for this so-called bounty you refer to, this is the first time I've ever heard of this. Never heard of it when I was a private contractor screener and certainly not when I joined TSA. I think you're quoting an urban legend.
