In my wallet:

1) Amex/Costco Cash Rewards card: I get 3% back for purchases at restaurants (which I make every day), plus eliminates the need to keep a separate Costco card in my wallet. (Plus 2% back for travel purchases, 1% back for everything else, though I use other cards for these).

2) Citi Dividend Platinum Select Mastercard: I get 5% back for purchases at gas stations, drug stores, and supermarkets (1% for everything else). Plus, through the Citi Dividend Merchant network, I save 5% on all my Amazon.com purchases. Downside is that cashback is limited to ~$300/yr (though unlimited for cashback from Merchant network). When I exhaust my limit, I'll switch to Citi AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Mastercard, which has a similar 5% cashback.

3) Starwood Preferred Guest Platinum Amex: I'm thinking about getting rid of this card since 1) it is not free and 2) I recently tried to make a claim under its Return Protection program (not available on Amex/Costco card), but discovered that the exclusions make it almost useless for me. Are SPG points worth more than 3-5% cash back?

Sitting on my desk are:

1) Mileage Plus Signature Visa Card: I'll purchase my United tickets on this while the $1=1EQM offer continues. I just got this to replace my MP Gold MC, but I'm disappointed I didn't get the Gold Visa...maybe it doesn't matter?

And because I need a card for my business:

2) BofA Visa Platinum Business Card: I use this when I rent a car since it provides PRIMARY coverage.

3) Amex Gold Business Card: Just got this...not sure if it's worth it....may switch to the no-annual-fee Blue Cash for Business Card or the seemingly identical Business Cash Rebate Card (anyone know the difference between these last two cards?).

To be cancelled:

1) Mileage Plus Gold Mastercard: I got this card decades ago, but now it looks like the MP Visa is THE card.

2) Citi Shell Mastercard and Chase Freedom Visa: Got these originally for 5% cash back for gas purchases, but now I get that (and more) from my other cards.
