A few years ago my wife and I stayed there (this was before I achieved any MR status) in a concierge level room (believe it was on the 34th floor).
We noted that they were doing some refurbishing somewhere near us (perhaps a floor or two below) because of the presence of an odor (could have been paint or some kind of adhesive. It didn't seem all that bad so we didn't say anything.
Anyway, at about 3 AM we both woke up coughing - that odor was now overpowering.
Called down and they sent someone from engineering up to unlock the bottom portion of one of those half-moon windows. But, since there was no cross ventilation, it didn't help.
So, we called down again and they sent a manager (the night manager, I guess) up to take a sniff. The result was that they moved us (temporarily, they said) to a corner, 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite on 35. (If you make a left out of the elevator, it's the one in the corner.
The next morning we went to the desk to find out what our new room would be - the manager in charge tickled her terminal's keys and told us to stay put for the duration of our stay (4 nights) and apologized to us for all the inconvenience.
Incidentally, back then (1997) we too found the concierge lounge and hotel staff to be outstanding.
Out of curiosity, did you book the concierge floor or was it a complimentary upgrade?
