I'm putting this here on the AC forum, because it seems that most of these phony calls are being directed to Canada, although some were reported in the U.S. also, from this number.

I got a call on my cellphone this evening, that I didn't answer, so a number was left on the phone. Not recognizing the area code, I tried to do a reverse lookup of the number from many websites, and they all came back that it was a number in Texas, near Dallas, but no name or address could be found for the number. Finally "Googled" the number, and came up with a blog site, with lots of people reporting that they got many calls from this number, sometimes offering vacation "sales", sometimes nothing on the other end of the line, or sometimes a recording telling them to press "8" or "9" to be removed from the list (that doesn't work as the calls kept coming). Seems to be hitting most of the cellphone companies up here (Bell, Telus, Rogers), according to the blog, and calls were made to businesses, homes, etc.

Suggest you don't call it back if it's on your cell, of shows on your caller ID on a landline phone. Wasted long distance call, if anything.

Has anyone else gotten a call from this number recently???
