Parking is expensive at all 3 hotels (circa USD 40/day). Street parking is possible but difficult; overnight garage parking is going to run over 20/day even many blocks away. Not really good idea to have a car at these hotels unless you use their parking (which is often sold out, btw). Palace is the nicest of the 3, esp if you are Plat and they are in the mood to give one of their nicer upgrades (usually not for a free night though, even for Plats). St. Francis has the best views from some rooms, but otherwise not a good choice. W is a typical W, small rooms, hot bar, location is fine but noisy (actually all 3 are noisy). Palace has a wonderful pool and excellent cafe/bar (Maxwell's, low key and historic atmosphere, very San Francisco); also the Palm Court with the finest/largest/most expensive tiffany stained glass ceiling in the world (Palace was built during the gold rush to be the most expensive hotel in the world, in a city flush with cash and out to make a splash; of course that was a century ago and while restored the hotel shows its age at times).
