No chance to lose the ticket in the muliple stay spots (like a hotel etc), multiple checking in's (some itineraries are for either a long time or with many stops so chances of forgetting it somewhere increase!) and the carriers can't fob you off to another carrier as the thing is staring them in the face on their screen.
