We all know the service culture and gender politics in Asia are very different than in North America and thus it is not considered demeaning for an Asian [trained] woman to kneel at the foot of a man and serve him. For a North American woman to do this represents a very different symbol and should not be expected. Drawing the blind of a minute or two while she sets your table is really not unreasonable, particularly in a dark airplane cabin where light sensitivity could be an issue.
