Roundtrip flights from PIT to BOS, even midweek, are under $300 with 10-day advance purchase. Do you require a refundable ticket? If so, that's what's driving up the cost of your flights...and hopefully US will match WN's reasonably-priced refundable fares (no more than $600 r/t coast-to-coast, $298 in the case of PIT-MHT) when WN starts service out of PIT in May.
