I't's not the club access that annoys me. I have a membership that gives me access to the clubs. The bigger issue is the deceptive marketing.

There was a scandal a few years back with a few famous catalog companies that showed how they sent the same catalog with different prices to different people, based on what they thought they would pay.

I don't object to levels of qualification being combined with perks. I do object to different offers to different Elite members at the same level. (As MF pointed out, not exactly the case here as his membership was not directly offered by the club.)

Our communication on this board can serve as a "check and balance" for the industry if we utilize it correctly. A case in point being the Hilton "Conquest". Only a small percentage of Elites received that offer, but when it was posted here, Hilton honored (sorry) every single call to join. They got caught, and they fessed-up. Hopefully next time they will think twice about selective mailings.

Anyway, this is a long rambling way of saying my dollars (or Euros) and my miles are as good as the next guys, and yours are as good as mine. We need to keep sharing this information to make sure that the industry doesn't play us for fools (any more than they already do).
