I just used FF miles to do SMF to CUN. I thought for 30K that this wasn't a bad use of miles (probably borderline depending on who you ask). If you have the miles and don't need to use them for anything else, then I would burn them.

Obviouslly you need to decide if there is a better use in the future (upcoming long international flight to upgrade or perhaps a status challenge, then you may want to use your FF for the family, but purchase your ticket).

I could not get a flight out on Sat or Sun but Friday was available. You may want to expand your flight choices to include Friday departure if possible.
