I'm an insulin dependant diabetic who has to inject 4 x times a day, usually with meals.

I regularly fly LHR to MAN/EDI/GLA and have never had any problems taking my insulin pen through security and using it whilst seated after the 'meal' is served.

Before flying LHR/BKK/SYD in December 2004, I did a check on the BA website and 'Ask BA' and found the advice re timezones. etc.

The information regarding the requirement for doctor's letter was not contained in the 'Ask BA' answer 4 months ago!

If there has been a policy change, surely it should be better communicated, perhaps via Diabetes UK and their monthly magazine, 'Balance'.

As a reader of that publication - I have seen no communication from BA or any other airline.

I am also somewhat disappointed if the 'apparent' action of BA Staff in offloading the diabetic passenger is true.

However I know that very often these 'news items' are inaccurately reported by journos who don't know the first thing about the issues, be it Diabetes or the Airline Industry.
