In any event, don't take the shuttle. If you are with carry-on only, just walk on the upper level. If you have any large luggage, it may be much easier to walk on the lower level until you get to T-4. (Make sure you arrange w/your arriving party if you will be meeting @ upper or lower level. If luggage is involved @ T-4, it will be lower level. LAX has serious eau-du-exhaust spraying you at any level, but upper has more fresh air.
