Even assuming any business would accept responsibility for such a claim over a week later, zippers and their parts are indeed not considered for compensation.
You'll find a simple paperclip will serve just as well as a pulltab;
for something more aesthetic, consider buying one of those decorator keyrings or pulltabs they sell with anything from individual names to various logos.
