Even when the exchange rate was better London is known for its high prices. At least in NYC you can eat three meals a day on $31USD and not McDonalds either. The deli's around times square are very good and well priced. Speaking of McDonalds a combo in London is $13USD!!
Also the Problem is The Park Lane is no Westin Times Square yet it is more expensive and the rooms are no where near as nice... Do a search on FT and you will see a long list of complaints! I am on business and as such I have no choice but to "live with it".
