I have read the new award mileage calculation rules several times but can not figured this out. I will appreciate an answer from the experts on this board. If points are redeemed for an award ticket after May 24, 2005 and the itinerary has a stopover, will points be charged based on the individual flights or on the mileage of the sum of of the flights?

The following is an example:
JFKxLHRxBOM in F is 7938 miles which will require 144,000 points.

If you make a stopover in LHR, will the points required remain the same or will they charge 75,000+90,000 = 165,000?
