If he passed through security without a problem, how did BA suddenly discover on the aircraft that he was diabetic? Perhaps he announced it to the crew and asked what to do with his insulin. The BA crew easily could have "confiscated the contraband" and supervised the insulin adminsitration. They then could have given back the rest of his supplies at the end of the flight. I can understand BA's concern but perhaps he really never was hassled before.

Flying out of an airport that always requires shoe removal, I know the drill. Since there are many airports in the US which NEVER requires this, if I regular flew out of these "nonshoe removal" airports, I would have been aghast if they asked me to suddenly remove my shoes. The analogous situation may have occurred with this man and his insulin. Different airports and different airline crews FROM THE SAME AIRLINES impose/don't impose the same written rules.
