Checked out SQ's website but couldn't find any info on this. Do you mean that the points would build me stauts on SQ but the miles would go to a *A partner for redemption?

Eventually Search for additional information using Google - that's how I digged up that October thread, by adding Krisflyer to your search to limit the number of threads.
On the Singapore site you're interested in
PPS Club - worthwhile only for J and F Singapore Flyers.
Also, miles accrued on the other program will also add status for you, on top of the SQ program.
