there are more quirks in inter-island reservations than you can shake a stick at. ua/aq has a bunch as noted. one good thing, is that there has been no change fee on those tickets as look as you don't re-route. how you get handled at the airport is hit or miss, and often depends on where you are from, if they know you, and your status. not only on aq, but also on ha. be nice, hope you get a friendly person.
Very true. My father, who used to travel on AQ a lot plugging in 75k on inter-island trips alone (pre-domestic flights days, pre-Diamond days) would get almost anything he wanted since he knew most of the grounds staff working at a certain point in time. That was then and this is now. Now he's nothing and is amazed at how much AQ has changed.
