My family travels to HNL from SBA at least three or four times a year to visit the relatives. Since my wife became a teacher we find that we are only traveling at peak times (christmas/spring break/summer) and the fares are usually very high (typcially around $700 but sometimes as high as 800 or 900). We have considered using LAX but that, especially with traffic and all the security, is a major hassle. The red eye flights usually offer some savings but my wife refuses. So.....my question.......anybody have any ideas on how to get better (non published) fares to HNL? I think we are pretty much out of luck at Christmas and Spring break but for the Summer travel we have more flexibility and I would think we could do better than what we can find online (currently $700).
