How did you get the 17DE? Was it just by airport check-in? If it was, you should try this for the return: Get to a computer just before 24 hours before departure. At exactly 24 hours before departure (to the second), ba.com will open online check-in. (This is now said to be available for everyone at that time, not just BA Exec Club members any more.) See what's available then. It may work, it may not - but it's likely to be a better bet than waiting until you get to the airport.
