Thank you for your help. We have a 7 year old with us and a traditional ryokan will probably be inappropriate.

Is it possible to let me have some advice as to either a modern hotel where we can enjoy onsen or rotenburo (or whatever?) for some sessions (1-2 hours by booking?) just for us,

or

some onsen or rotenburo (or similar place) not in a hotel but where we can visit?

I am looking for somewhere nice. For your reference, we usually stay at the Grand Hyatt or Park Hyatt or Imperial in Tokyo and intend to stay at the Westin in Kyoto.
