I don't think I'm crazy in thinking these responses are in conflict with each other. I'm OK that a 2/14-2/15 night doesn't count, but I had counted on a 3/31-4/1 stay counting as my 10th night.

Well, certainly they are in conflict with one another. No question about that. So, I guess you have to ask yourself, "Whose advice at SPG do I trust? The Lurker who has already asked SPG GMO about this exact question or someone working in the E-Communications Department whose source of information is unknown?"
If you don't trust me, then I guess you'll have to roll the dice and see what happens. After all, if I give out bad advice, it's not like I can't fix it or anything, especially since I still have the email from SPG GMO to back it up.
