Is there a revenue premium in competitive markets? If you want to do some further research, you'll find that the so-called "discount lines" are often identically priced to a traditional carrier.

The notion that "Southwest is always cheaper" is a big myth, propagated by their brilliant marketing.

In fact, in competitive markets, the median fare paid by a Southwest passenger is higher than that of a traditional carrier, as WN sells more full-fare tickets as a percentage of seats than most carriers.

Now that would be an interesting paper, as the average schmuck on the street thinks WN is the cheapest.
