if you are going during "prime time," this property is an unmitigated disaster. off-season, it's probably better...not sure how much better, though. i found the management and staff to be completely incompetent and downright unhelpful.
only twice in my life have i had a long stay planned at a property in which i had to check out after the first night and change hotels. one of those instances was at the westin rio mar this past xmas. and, i was on an award stay. i had to pay full rack rate at the property i moved to and i was happy to do so just to get away from the westin rio mar. and, since i had no elite status with hilton, the full rack rate got me a small room and points i probably have no use for. but, the staff was friendly and competent and it ended up being a nice relaxing vacation.
at the rio mar, the staff didn't want to be there, particularly since the property was mobbed and it was the holiday season.
good luck. you'll need it. if anyone wants an anecdote or two of my short time at this haphazardly run property, PM me. i can also provide you with the name of a "manager" (term used loosely) that you would want to avoid, particularly if you need something in a timely fashion. if you rely on this particular manager for help, you have no chance.
