You'd almost think they'd let the flight continue their destination, for the reason they could then burn the fuel and land light.

I guess they might have feared the heat buildup or something in the blow tires might have damaged the others, but I would think a quick flyby of a tower (say OAK? or Alameda NAS?) would have confirmed it was only two.

Oh well, better to be safe then sorry, and someone with the FlightOps manual will no doubt chime in with the specifics, but if they can drop an engine at take-off and proceed to their destination...

Then again, after Concorde, with all that rubber flying around, perhaps you just don't take chances anymore.
