The 10,000 promotion points never posted however, and having not had a response to 2 emails, I have just phoned them up.

They are ‘looking into it’ but are talking as though I will be getting 5,000 further points.

I’d hoped that the 5,000 points voucher was a standard feature of signing up for Ambassador, and that I’d be getting 10,000 extra points under the Amex promotion.

Am I being daft?
At least you are in the U.K., and a call to the Ambassador line is during your "work hours", and not out-of-country. A call there, or a message left, is indeed returned, however, on their coin.
1. I did have to email back and forth once, when I had paid for Gold, just before paying for Ambassador, but finally got my $50 back.
2. A call to the about promo airline-points for signing up got immediate action, while I was on the phone. I could see the points in a couple of days. I can't remember if I called the P-Club number in the U.S., or the Ambassador line in the U.K. Try it, or try both.
