I have to agree with that comment. Value is in the eye of the beholder. To some people the new discount Lord of the Rings set at Costco is an excellent deal, to me I wouldn't take it if it was free Similarly on the miles.

I've done a similar promotion with USAirways once, where I flew on $575 of short haul full fare segments to get 35k in bonus miles. I guess I'm just graduating up the insanity scale!
