While AA may want to capture some of Cdn's best customers on the trans-border services, and maybe overseas, they already provide a rather reasonable way of achieving the first two elite tiers with their Gold and Platinum challenges. And while you wouldn't get the benefits of elite until you've qualified, it seems a recruiting new elites from the competition, rather than an outright comp. Then you'd move up through mileage earned (i.e get Platinum by flying 16K in a given three months, then another 50K to get ExecPlatinum for the balance of 2000, and 2001/2.
I suppose it doesn't hurt to inquire, but from my reading of other forums, that level of comp'ing is not very common.
